AHF’s latest Tinder/Grindr STD billboards feature naked ‘full body’ silhouettes of couples embracing horizontally set against a brightly colored graffiti-style background. The September billboards featured cameo-like black silhouettes of four upright heads positioned as two couples facing each other. In both the old and new artwork, each couple (one a man and a woman; the other, two men) one member of the couple has the name of one of the popular hook up apps, such as Tinder, superimposed on it; the facing body (or head) has the name of a sexually transmitted disease, such as Chlamydia, across it. The billboards also include the URL ‘FreeSTDCheck.org,’ where people can get information and locations offering free HIV and STD testing.

“While AHF’s Tinder/Grindr STD billboards do not expressly equate these social apps with STDs, they do encourage users of the apps to think about whether their own use of them has put them at risk,” said Michael Weinstein, President of AIDS Healthcare Foundation. “There are legitimate concerns, and a critical ongoing need for greater attention to STD prevention and transmission—as the alarming new STD statistics from the CDC show.”

A lengthy September 2015 Vanity Fair article entitled “Tinder and the Dawn of the ‘Dating Apocalypse” explored the role mobile dating apps are increasingly playing in encouraging casual sex among young adults. AHF’s billboard campaigns featuring Tinder and Grindr attempt to remind users of the inherent STD risks of both heterosexual and homosexual casual sexual encounters.

"Both Tinder and Grindr’s response to our previous public service billboards on STD awareness were really tone deaf. We expected that these businesses would be concerned about the sexual health of their customers, from whom they make millions. Instead they called lawyers and blocked our advertising," said Whitney Engeran Cordova, Senior Director, Public Health Division for AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

I would be thinking of something and I would see it in front of me like a cartoon character,” he recalled, describing his hallucinations. “When you’re losing sleep, after a while you turn to this fight-or-flight response. You just go into survival mode.”

At the time, Smith said he survived by staying in constant motion, staying uncomfortable, and psychologically breaking each day into a series of six-hour stretches until the next meal.

While SEALs may need to stay awake for days in life-or-death situations, Smith said he would never wish this kind of sleep deprivation on anyone. ABC News' own Dan Childs, head of the Medical Unit, is currently staying up for 40 hours as part of the "Good Morning America" 40th anniversary event to show how important sleep is. That's half of the time Smith was required to stay up.

Dr. Kirk Parsley, another former SEAL who is also a physician specializing in sleep health, couldn’t agree more.

While SEAL training didn’t break him, Parsley said he was almost brought down by the chronic sleep deprivation that accompanied his time in medical school and residency.

“I had extreme chronic anxiety, I was super emotional and impulsive, I couldn’t manage my appetite or keep a good workout regimen,” he said. “All the metrics people measure their success by ... I was suffering in all of them." It wasn’t until he began prioritizing sleep that he felt like he regained control of his mental and physical wellness.

Police are investigating a report of a rape that allegedly occurred at the home ofNebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr.

Police say a 20-year-old-woman reported the incident after arriving at a Lincoln hospital Sunday afternoon.

Armstrong told the Omaha World-Herald that police came to his home to interview him, roommate wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp and another teammate, tight end Trey Foster. It's unknown whether anyone else was at the house.

The suspect has not been named by police, and no arrests have been made.

The woman told police she knows the suspect, and police spokeswoman Katie Flood said that person has been contacted.

Coach Mike Riley said he learned of the police investigation Tuesday morning.

"I would like to have known earlier," Riley said.

Riley said he has talked with Armstrong, Westerkamp and Foster. No players were held out of practice Tuesday, the Huskers' first workout of this bye week.

"We will follow exactly what the policies are within the athletic department and our university," the coach said.

Riley said he would likely have little say in decisions about disciplinary action.

The situation has served as a distraction for the team, he said.

"I'm interested in where we're going," he said, "and what will be found."

Armstrong told the Omaha World-Herald that he arrived home at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, after the football game at Rutgers.

"We were at our house partying," Armstrong said.

He said that after the three players spoke to police, a police officer said, "You guys should be fine."

At least half of the country's governors are refusing to take in Syrian refugees in their states amid heightened security concerns following Friday's terrorist attacks in Paris.

Michigan and Alabama were the first states in the country to refuse relocating Syrian refugees on Sunday, and they have now been joined by Oklahoma, Nebraska, Idaho, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio, Arizona, North Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Georgia, Maine, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina and Iowa, some of which say more information is needed before accepting more refugees.

Govs. Rick Snyder of Michigan, Robert Bentley of Alabama, Greg Abbott of Texas, and Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas said in separate statements Sunday and today that their states would not be relocating refugees from the war-torn country until the U.S. Department of Homeland Security fully reviewed its screening procedures.

"Michigan is a welcoming state and we are proud of our rich history of immigration," Snyder said. "But our first priority is protecting the safety of our residents."

However, State Department spokesman Mark Toner said refugee status gives individuals both legal status in the U.S. and freedom to move from state to state, making it unclear that the states refusing to take in Syrian refugees could in fact reject them.
